| UNIVERSITIES SCIENCE ESSAY COMPETITION - 2015 |
The Universities Science Essay competition is an initiative of USEC, a non-governmental educational foundation in partnership with Cadright global resources. It is aimed at harvesting original ideas from young people who are encouraged to join the 'all-hands-on-deck' mission of the United Nations (UN) in achieving sustainable social, economic and environmental growth for Africa. These ideas are evaluated by a constitute jury that makes recommendations as to which essay or essays are adoptable for the Nigerian clime and hence channels these recommendations to the appropriate quarters for required action.
The focus is in line with the vision 2030 of the United Nations. The Goals include: worldwide Poverty Alleviation, worldwide Hunger Alleviation and food security, provision of quality education for all, gender equality and women empowerment, availability and sustainable management of water for all, provision of clean and affordable energy for all, economic growth and decent employment for all, e.t.c Read More about the UN Vision and Declaration by Member States for 2030
The competition is organised quarterly, every year, and sponsored by a number of concerned individuals, Educators and members of the political circle who are interested in seeing African youngsters rise above passive complaint-making to active involvement in the much needed positive change. All students and graduates of higher institutions in Nigeria are encouraged to participate in this premiere pro-active movement towards awareness creation and action stimulation.
Winning essays are fairly remunerated as provided for in the foundation's objectives.
